About the artist
Kirstin White paints watercolours rapidly and on-the-spot. Consequently, she is often commissioned to paint pictures at wedding receptions. Kirstin paints at other events too and among her favourite painting subjects are parties, music festivals, fetes, fairs and shows.
As a watercolourist, and especially during the height of the summer, Kirstin can often be seen working outside, at her easel. Accompanied by her spotty dog, she travels the UK painting and drawing. Working predominantly in watercolour, she frequently includes additional drawing media in her pictures.
Kirstin as an art tutor
Moreover, Kirstin White is an enthusiastic and experienced tutor who enjoys passing on her knowledge. Having, herself, trained at Salisbury College of Art between 1979 – 1982, she now teaches regularly. Lessons are held in Dummer, in Hamble and in Bursledon. On the one hand, she offers tuition in watercolour painting. On the other, she leads life drawing classes. Interestingly, lessons in painting and drawing tuition are sometimes available on an individual, one to one, basis. Kirstin is an experienced tutor, running life drawing sessions with students at both Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh and at the University of Southampton.
In addition to the regular weekly classes, Kirstin is also able to offer one day workshops and outdoor painting sessions. Her watercolour demonstrations, which are popular with art societies, usually feature either flowers or local landscapes.
Kirstin lives near Southampton and has a studio in Dummer, near Basingstoke. Since she is based in Hampshire and on the south coast of England, she makes the most of proximity to the sea and to the beautiful local rivers of Hamble, Test, Itchen and Meon. She enjoys sailing and therefore, when practical, paints watercolours while afloat on the water. Other hobbies include working her allotment where she grows tulips, dahlias and a wide variety of organic vegetables. She has two adult children.
