About the artist
Kirstin White is a contemporary watercolour artist who paints rapidly on the spot. Consequently, she is often commissioned as an event painter, to paint pictures at live wedding receptions. Kirstin paints at other events too and among her favourite painting subjects are parties, music festivals, fetes, fairs, and shows.
As a watercolourist, and especially during the height of the summer, Kirstin can often be seen working outside, at her easel. Accompanied by her spotty dog, Kirstin travels the UK painting and drawing, however, she is local to Hampshire, UK. Big loose colourful paintings are Kirstin’s trademark style. When working from photographs, video, or imagination rather than from life, Kirstin’s painting style subtly alters. Whilst remain full of life, such paintings may have a tighter, more detailed look to them. Since she is based in Hampshire and on the south coast of England, photographs allow Kirstin to work with images from further afield.

Moreover, Kirstin White is an enthusiastic and experienced tutor, who enjoys passing on her knowledge. Having trained at Salisbury College of Art between 1979 – 1982, she now teaches art to adults. Watercolour lessons are held in Martyr Worthy and also in Bursledon. A modern-day painter Kirstin Values values traditional drawing skills. You can learn to draw with expert instruction from Kirstin, who leads weekly life drawing classes. Kirstin White is an experienced tutor. For many years running life drawing sessions with students at both Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh and at the University of Southampton.
During the pandemic, watercolour painting lessons successfully transferred online, using WhatsApp and Zoom. Life drawing courses will resume as soon as is practical.
In addition to the regular weekly classes, Kirstin is also able to offer one-day workshops and outdoor painting sessions. Her watercolour demonstrations, which are popular with art societies, usually feature either flowers or local landscapes.
Kirstin lives between Winchester and Southampton. She makes the most of proximity to the sea and to the beautiful local rivers of Hamble, Test, Itchen, and Meon. She enjoys sailing and therefore, when practical, paints watercolours while afloat on the water. Other hobbies include reading, gardening, dressmaking, and dancing. She has two adult children.
