June 14th 2019 saw a group of artists gather at Sandbanks in Poole, to paint en plein air, in celebration of the memory of Richard Price.
Kirstin White watercolour at Sandbanks
The beach cafe made the ideal gathering point. As we sat sipping coffee and chatting, the weather improved minute by minute! Four or five Richard’s favourite painting spots were identified, whereupon we each made our personal selections. By lunchtime, it was picnic-on-the-beach weather and we were drinking a toast to Richard’s memory.

What could be more perfect than a British heatwave and a box of paints? Adding water of course! We had glorious sunshine for British Keelboat Academy Racing on the Hamble this weekend.
I spent Saturday watercolour painting and sketching onboard Bootlegger 2, a handsome motor boat with lots of space, which was just as well since Bootlegger 2 was both committee vessel and mothership for the event. Other than the picturesque J70’s, my painting subjects were crews waiting on the mothership, race officers, four delightful children and two seafaring dogs. All subjects were very patient with my fixed stares!

While in the New Forest painting, this afternoon. I heard my first cuckoo of the year, incessantly! Picked a super spot beside water and made plans to, in some future painting, include the horses drinking from it, The many dogs who stopped to take a dip would be a lot of fun to draw one day too! Hoping for many more hot sunny days.
